MSCI confirmed that it will follow its prevailing rules to fast-track the inclusion of large IPOs into its Global Standard Indexes, paving the way for the inclusion of SpaceX (SPCX.US). This means that if SpaceX is added to these benchmark indexes, passive investment funds will be required to purchase shares of SpaceX.

SpaceX’s IPO will raise USD75 billion, valuing the company at USD1.75 trillion. It is expected to rank among the top 10 listed companies in the US by market capitalization. MSCI said SpaceX is scheduled to begin trading on the Nasdaq on June 12 and is expected to join the MSCI indexes after 10 trading days.

However, S&P declined last week to fast-track SpaceX’s inclusion in the S&P 500, reiterating that it will not change its requirement that constituent companies must be profitable.

Escalating tensions in the Middle East have threatened peace talks. At the request of US President Donald Trump, Iran and Israel have agreed to temporarily suspend attacks.

Trump said the war is expected to end swiftly and successfully, the US will be able to declare a full victory within the next two weeks, and that oil prices will plunge.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address that Israel will suspend its military operations against Iran for now, but will respond if Iran launches further attacks.

Earlier, Iran also announced a halt to its military operations against Israel, but warned that any further hostile actions by Israel against Hezbollah in Lebanon would trigger Iranian retaliation.

International oil prices were slightly softer this morning (9th). Brent crude oil futures edged down 0.13% to USD94.13 per barrel, while New York crude oil futures fell 0.25% to USD91.07 per barrel.

BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) is developing in-house humanoid robots, codenamed "Yao, Shun, and Yu", with its seventh-generation prototype undergoing on-site testing at factories in Shenzhen and Changsha, according to online hearsay.

About 150 units were reportedly deployed, with a target of using 20,000 units internally within the year. However, according to a response from BYD cited by National Business Daily, the information is false, although the company confirmed that it is indeed developing humanoid robots.

For the first time since the ceasefire agreement took effect on April 8, Iran launched an airstrike on Israel in retaliation for Israel’s attack on Beirut, Lebanon.

Israel said it had carried out strikes against Iran, disregarding US President Donald Trump’s request not to take retaliatory measures.

International oil prices extended gains, with Brent oil futures and New York oil futures both soaring more than 3% to USD96.19 per barrel and USD93.51 per barrel, respectively.

Trump said he had immediately called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him not to take retaliatory action against Iran, as the US and Iran were very close to reaching a final deal.

Nevertheless, Israel continued to launch airstrikes on central and western Iran, with explosions heard in areas including Tehran. Iran has closed the airspace around Tehran International Airport.

Changzhi Hanhai (Shanghai) Private Equity Investment Fund Partnership (literal translation of "長智瀚海(上海)私募投資基金合夥企業") was recently established with a capital contribution of RMB3.91 billion, Chinese media reported, citing Qichacha APP.

US semiconductor stocks plunged last Friday (5th). This morning (8th), Samsung Electronics shares once sank below KRW300,000 and last dived more than 7% at KRW305,000, while SK Hynix shares dropped below KRW2 million and were last down 3.86%.

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), who is visiting Seoul, said that AI-related stocks are now very cheap and shareholders should be pleased as there could be even greater upside in the future.

Huang stated that demand for AI will continue to mushroom and that the future is very bright. It has become an established fact that AI will serve as core global infrastructure.

Pansy Ho, MGM CHINA (02282.HK) Chairman cum Executive Director, disclosed that she sold more than 3.066 million shares of MGM Resorts International (MGM.US) over five consecutive trading days on May 28-29 and June 1-3, fully exiting her stake and cashing in a total of USD140 million (approximately HKD1.1 billion). Following the disposal, she no longer holds any shares in MGM Resorts International.

At present, MGM Resorts International and Ho hold 55.95% and 22.49% stakes in MGM CHINA, respectively.

Iran launched an attack on Israel for the first time since the ceasefire agreement took effect on April 8, in retaliation for Israel’s strike on Beirut. There have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far.

US President Donald Trump said he would immediately call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge him not to take retaliatory action against Iran.

He stressed that the US and Iran are very close to reaching a final agreement, which could be concluded as soon as Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

Trump described it as a good deal and said he did not want it to be derailed by the current escalation.

Trump added that the Iranian missile attack did not hit anyone and expressed hope that Israel would refrain from responding.

He warned that if Israel retaliates, the situation could drag on as it has over the past 47 years, or even the past 3,000 years.
