HK to Launch HKD3/ Liter Diesel Subsidy Tmr, LPG Subsidy for Taxis & Minibuses in May
The Inter-departmental Task Force on Monitoring Fuel Supply, chaired by Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Paul Chan, has decided to roll out a HKD3 per liter subsidy scheme for diesel. This subsidy will take effect from midnight tomorrow for two months until June 29, with an estimated expenditure of HKD1.8 billion.
Due to the Middle East conflict, the ceiling price of LPG at dedicated filling stations will rise by more than HKD1 per liter starting next month, representing an average increase of over 28%, Chan said. Consequently, the Task Force has also proposed providing a fuel subsidy of HKD0.5 per liter to taxis, minibuses, and school private light buses for two months. This subsidy is expected to be launched next month and will involve HKD38 million in expenditure.

CM BANK Falls 3% Post-Results; JPM Expects Shr Price to Underperform Peers in Short Term
After opening flat this morning (29th), CM BANK (03968.HK) headed south and once sank to a bottom of HKD48.16. It last traded at HKD48.46, down 3.27%, with a volume of 7.8092 million shares, involving HKD380 million.
JPMorgan expects CM BANK's share price to underperform those of its peers in the near term, citing that the recovering net interest income and strong wealth management have yet to translate into robust profit growth, but the bank is already trading at a premium to other A-/H-share banks.
Given its weaker 1Q26 profit growth compared with Bank of Ningbo and other banks, as well as the absence of management commitment to improved growth prospects or total returns, JPMorgan believes CM BANK's share price momentum will remain subdued for a short period of time. CM BANK's rating remains Overweight, along with a target price of HKD62.
